Scan-and-Solve for Rhino

Simulate Early, Simulate Often... In Rhino

Hi. Will there be possibility to use Scan & Solve with RhinoBIM? RhimoBIM is using light extrusion in Rhino 5 which is not a solid. It would be really great using these two tools together. Tahnks for your reply.

Right, this is a good thought, and we have talked about it. But there is a number of steps to get there. The current version of Scan&Solve focuses exclusively on solids in Rhino. We anticipate extensions to various types of closed surfaces, perhaps meshes, perhaps partially closed surfaces; followed by assemblies of bodies, possibly with heterogeneous materials. THEN, we can talk about specific application areas, such as BIM. ... a bit hard to predict how soon we can get there, but get there we will ...
I thought the light extrusion in Rhino v5 that RhinoBIM utilizes can revert back to a BREP (Boundary Representation) so it 's no different to any other solid. Plug-ins need to be built against Rhino v5 specific libraries to generate the light extrusion. I haven't tested but I assume v4 plug-ins would recognize existing light weight extrusions as typical breps (solids).

Have you tried to analyze a light weight extrusion and it not work or are you assuming?
Hi. I've tried it on Rhino 5.0 32-bit. I had to convert light extrusion to solid first.
