Scan-and-Solve for Rhino

Simulate Early, Simulate Often... In Rhino

KMP_AFFINITY

Users with non-Intel platforms may experience a problem with a popup DOS window saying something along the lines of:

OMP: Warning #72: KMP_AFFINITY: affinity only supported for Intel(R) processors.

OMP: Warning #71: KMP_AFFINITY: affinity not supported, using "none".

Unfortunately, closing the DOS window results in a crash of both Scan&Solve and Rhino.

Fortunately, suppressing the warning is simply a matter of defining an environment variable KMP_AFFINITY and setting its value to "none".  To do this, close Rhino and define the variable as follows:

Windows XP:

Computer > Properties > Advanced system settings > Advanced > [Environment Variables...]

Windows 7:

My Computer > Properties > Advanced > [Environment Variables...]

At this point, both systems are the same:

  1. Choose [New...] in the System variables group.
  2. In the New System Variable dialog that appears, enter KMP_AFFINITY for the Variable name and none for the Variable value:
  3. Choose [OK] to close the New System Variable dialog.
  4. Choose [OK] to close the Environment Variables dialog.
  5. Restart Rhino and try Scan&Solve.
