Wish : Edit face to load

If for some reason I alter the solid I have already loaded, there is a chance that the faces which I applied a force to will either disappear, or SNS will apply the force to another face because the…Continue

Wish : save constraint and load "scenarios"

It would be nice to have an option to save constraint and load "scenarios" for the same solid so they can be retrieved easily.Expanding on this, it would be possible to export an analysis report with…Continue

Wish : Poor man's non linear ?

Why not make a non-linear calculation by iterating the calculation ?1) Add a fraction of the load (step value is user-defineable)2) Calculate 3) Add next fraction of the load, but on deformed…Continue

Wish : Edit face to load

If for some reason I alter the solid I have already loaded, there is a chance that the faces which I applied a force to will either disappear, or SNS will apply the force to another face because the face ID numbers have changed. In that case, and even if one simply changes his mind about where to apply the load, it would be nice to be able to edit the faces instead of deleting the load, and re-defining it completely. It is already possible to do this with the Axis for the torque load, so it could…See More

It would be nice to have an option to save constraint and load "scenarios" for the same solid so they can be retrieved easily.Expanding on this, it would be possible to export an analysis report with results for the various "scenarios", and possibly  a highlight on the "worse case scenario".Thanks,--OlivierSee More

"License server up and running again. A script was added on the server so that it is launched systematically at boot time. Still not sure what happen with the Rhino locking though. Could be un-related to SNS ; just a coincidence. Cheers,"

"Hi Michael, I'm not sure what happened with those files, but as soon as I un-installed Scan and Solve, the problem disappeared. Regarding the floating license, we've been having server trouble lately, and I suspect that after a server…"

Michael Freytag replied to Olivier Suire's discussion 'Floating license trouble'
"I did some checking.  The SnS plug-in does not contact the server during plug-in loading, or during data reading, or during data writing - so the delay is probably not due to the licensing system. That said, if you are getting license…"

Michael Freytag replied to Olivier Suire's discussion 'Floating license trouble'
"Olivier, If a Rhino file contains Scan&Solve data, Rhino calls on the Scan&Solve plug-in to read the data.  The SnS plug-in does do some minor license checking at the time the plug-in loads.  If the server is unreachable, or a…"

Floating license trouble

Where I work, we purchased a floating license of scan and Solve, but it seems that we regularly run into situations where we get a message stating something like "Failed to connect to license server".Today, I ran into a situation where I couldn't open large Rhino files anymore : it seemed to take ages.So I un-installed Scan-and solve, and it went back to normal. Is it possible that SNS tries to locate the license server as I open a Rhino file, and ans it fails doing so, runs into an infinite…See More

"Now that SNS can analyse meshes, I suppose that it brings us closer to making a "poor man's" non-linear analysis : -Apply 1/10th (for example) of the load -Analyse -> deform the mesh -Apply the next 1/10th of the load on the…"

Simulation of 3D printed STL model

"Scan and Solve performing only a linear analysis, I find it a bit far-fetched to give any credit to the results on such a typically non-linear problem : plastic material, large deflexions, second order effects..."

"David, With edge restraints in Version 1.4 of Scan&Solve, rotational restraints about edges is now supported.  If necessary, edges can be added to your model by splitting faces where required, or by incorporating small holes as described…"
