At Tongji University Design and Innovation College, third year students tackled the issue of reusing materials for the application of public shelters. In the link above you can see individual projects videos and visualizations. 

In this post below - you can also see the accompanying SnS analysis they ran along with the development of their structures. They developed the structures from small connected components to full 1:1 prototypes.  The end studies were applied to simplified forms which they used to provide insight into the final designs and the way they did or didn't work.
