Simulate Early, Simulate Often... In Rhino
This is a simplified model of the midships section of a 60 ft catamaran. It is restrained at three points - two side stays and the forward stay. The load is the mast pressing down in the centre with o force of 100 kN - 10 tonnes. The structure is a 40 mm thick sandwich of epoxy and E-glass laminate on a foam core. Scan&Solve analysis indicates that all parts of the structure are well within the stress limits.

Using SnS for composite parts is dubious at best. The quote below is an understatement. The best you could hope for is being able to analyse chopped strand mat parts since they are somewhat isotropic, and even then it is a bit dubious. A cored laminate is far from isotropic.
From the SnS FAQ
Are orthotropic materials, such as wood or composites, supported in Scan&Solve™?
Scan&Solve™ presently works with isotropic materials, such as metals and unreinforced concrete, that do not have properties which vary with respect to orientation or position in space. The ability to model orthopropic materials is a high priority for future development.
