Simulate Early, Simulate Often... In Rhino

As the title says, it's not working on V5-32 on the 5-Jan WIP for me.

James,

So, the installer is failing, or the plug-in itself doesn't work with V5?  This installer (2011.1.10) does try to remove ScanAndSolve_WIP.rhp, ScanAndSolve_WIP.tb, and ScanAndSolve_WIP.tb.bak to make way for the pre-release version that loses the "_WIP" suffix.  I suppose it is possible the OS doesn't like this activity.

I'll download the latest V5-32 Rhino and further explore the latter possibility.

Thank you for spotting this.

Hi Michael,

The accurate way to put it would be that it doesn't run onV5, it does on V4.

James,

I downloaded the latest V5 WIP, and successfully ran the latest version of SnS within.

Do you receive any interesting error messages?

~Michael

I had a previous beta running under the last V5, but when I upgraded to the current V5 preview and ran the full installer for the latest beta of SandS, it uninstalled the plug-in from V5 and installed it into the full copy of V4 that is also on this machine. Can you manually copy the plug-in across to V5?

I also got a very scary message about 'repairing' or removing C++ libraries. Perhaps this should check for the existence of the libraries before running the installer to avoid this?

The plug-in can be shared between both V4 and V5 (32-bit).  In V5, load the plug-in manually using: Tools>Options...>Plug-ins>Install... browse to the Scan&Solve installation directory.  You are looking for ScanAndSolve.rhp.

The scary and harmless message is from the Intel library installer.  You can safely choose [Cancel].  I'll add to the "to do" list adding this check to the installer.

~Michael
