Will Scan and Solve simulate wood materials?

Hi,

I would like to know if scan and solve would do a resonable job simulating wood materials if the mechanical properties are known.

I obtained the properties for and average sample of Douglas fir and the max deflection for a 2x6x96 with 100lb force in z and both ends constrained seemed to be way off at 14 inches.

I am a novice to FEA and used the von mises failure model.

If scan and solve can simulate wood materials, what would be the best settings in the custom material settings to obtain a reasonable result?

The current version of Scan&Solve (1.2) is limited to isotropic materials; these are materials that have the same mechanical properties in all directions. Wood has different mechanical properties along each coordinate axis; it is an example of an orthotropic material. Wikipedia has a nice picture illustration. We are currently working on allowing more general materials in Scan&Solve.
